Read on for a fantastically novel take on the paranormal. Out on a mission to find and kill a rogue vampire she meet Bane, a blue eyed, gorgeous vampire who makes her giddy!! So glad to see more of him and can't wait to see what happens next!!! The reason for the hatred is slowly revealed and you kind of get why she wants to explode his brains!!! Lavinia, kick ass Succubus, is nursing unidentified hatred for Crixus. The Succubus has been taking her feeding a bit too far and there are a string of bodies in her wake. He is given a simple retrieval job by Hades. But he still would do anything for her or to keep her safe. It was in Book 2, BORN IN ICE, and narrated by the same gentlemen I might add, that I really was able to fall in love with this family. Don’t you agree? In fact, I am not sure that I would have continued the trilogy, had I not already owned the next two books. Relatable characters are what will invest a reader into the story. In some ways, it was difficult, in Book 1, for me to connect with the family, Concannon. The problem for me, I believe was the way the narrator seemed to rush through the female dialogue, making it seem somehow, cut off and thus, withholding her expression. The Irish accent was, as far as this South Texas Girl would think…spot on. I mean it is Nora Roberts…right? However, for some reason, I didn’t love the narration. And following that sentiment let me tell you that Book 1 is good. If you have read any of my past book reviews, you will know that I don’t believe in spoiler alerts. As their stepmother is awakened by noise and proceeds toward the door, Maggie hums the “Jaws” theme while she fiddles inebriatedly for the house keys.
